What percentage of my salary can I expect from the UIF?
The UIF pays 38% - 58 % of your gross salary, to a maximum ceiling salary of R12 478-00
If you earn above R12 470.00, the UIF will calculate the maternity benefit on the last mentioned salary.
The UIF takes in consideration your last 6 month’s average salary.  They also take in account your last 4 year’s of UIF contributions. In other words, if you have continuously contributed to the UIF fund for the last 4 years, you will receive the maximum benefit of 121 days (4 months maternity benefit)

What is the maximum benefit that I can expect from the UIF?
Depending on your credits, 121 days = 4 months

How long will it take for approval of my UIF Maternity Claim?
From our experience it takes approximately 5 weeks for approval of a UIF Maternity Claim and first payment of your claim (from the date of submission of your forms), although it can take up to 6 – 8 weeks.
Thereafter, your payments will continue on a monthly basis until you return back to work.

Is there a time limit for the submission of my UIF Maternity claim?
6 months from date of birth of baby
